Log In, RSS Feeds, Printer-Friendly Page, Choose Style (mobile, normal or large text, text-only and high contrast) and Search appear at the top.
Advanced Search, accessible from the search results page, offers extra ways to help you find what you are looking for. You can search certain areas of the site, look for content published in a specific period, and include or exclude files like Excel, PDF, Powerpoint or Word.
Staff are encouraged to log in at all times, to enable them to access the broadest range of content.
Navigation
On landing pages (such as the SAC home page and those for Consultancy, Learning and Research) main navigation is provided via a mix of images in the centre with links in an expanded footer area below.
On content pages, main navigation appears on the left. The current page is highlighted and you can quickly see what's above and beneath your current location, allowing you to orientate yourself wherever you are within the site.
On content pages, a breadcrumb trail appears to the right of the main navigation; this is a clickable list of links showing the path from the SAC home page to your current location.
Page Content
Page content appears in the centre. Content can be single- or multi-page; the latter has in-page navigation at the top of the content area. Examples of multi-page content include A-Z contact lists, course detail pages, research notes and other long content.
Where images can be clicked to view a larger version, this is indicated in the image caption along with an icon indicating that the image will open in a new window.
Pages with large numbers of downloadable files will usually have these displayed in the centre of the page, rather than on the right.
Flash Content
Some content on the site (such as video clips and MP3 files) requires the free Flash Player to view.
Related Content
On content pages, Featured Topics, Related Documents and Related Links appear on the right. Links to external sites are indicated with a box and arrow icon.
Contacts & Events
Wherever you see "Add to Address Book" or "Add To Calendar", you can import contacts and events into applications such as Windows Calendar, Windows Contacts, Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail and iCal, and web-based services such as Google Calendar and Yahoo Mail.
For detailed information on importing contacts and events using the most popular applications, please see the links below:

Downloadable Files
Links to downloadable files (Excel, PDF, Powerpoint and Word) are indicated via an icon for each file type. PDF files require the free Adobe Reader to view. Excel, Powerpoint and Word files require Microsoft Office or the free OpenOffice.org suite to view.
Footer
The footer appears at the bottom of every page, and includes links to the Site Map, Accessibility, this Help page, a Feedback Form, our Privacy Policy, Company Details and Disclaimer.
Social bookmarking links allow you to bookmark and share the current page via any of these social bookmarking services.
It also shows the date the page was last modified, plus organisational contact and copyright information.
Printing
Printer-Friendly pages are optimised for printing; they don't contain unneccessary graphics or navigation elements, saving ink and paper.
If you need to print a copy of the page as it appears on screen, you should use your browser's File > Print option. You may need to adjust your browser preferences if you wish to print background images.
If you need a graphic of the page as it appears on screen, for example to include in a handout about the SAC website, press the Print Screen key on your keyboard to take a screen snapshot.
You can then paste this into another application (such as Microsoft Word or Powerpoint) and print the resulting page.
