Auchincruive Masterplan Proposals
Proposals for the Auchincruive Estate, Ayr
Proposals for the redevelopment of the SAC Auchincruive Estate near Ayr were approved in principle by South Ayrshire council on 19th January, 2011. The proposals were submitted by developers AWG Property Ltd and the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC).
Plans to transform the 246 Hectare (600-acre) estate into a sustainable mixed-use development were originally lodged with South Ayrshire Council in December 2007. Since then the project team has been involved in public consultation and discussions with Council officials, addressing various technical and environmental issues raised and, in turn, reviewing the details of the proposal. As a result, the concept master plan for the site underwent a number of significant revisions.
The proposals comprise leisure facilities including an 18-hole golf course and an equestrian centre, stabling facilities, a hotel, research and development / business floorspace, and ‘enabling’ residential development.
The project will release surplus land at Auchincruive, the development of which will allow the Scottish Agricultural College to invest in the provision of state-of-the-art facilities and services that will benefit both students and clients, including relocation to the new Craigie Campus in Ayr. The College will also retain an element of research and business related functions at Auchincruive.
The Auchincruive site is located on the B743 Ayr to Mauchline road about three miles inland from the centre of Ayr itself.
Detailed design proposals will be formulated in discussions with South Ayrshire Council and other stakeholders such as Historic Scotland to ensure that a high quality living, working and leisure environment is achieved.
