Community Land Ownership and Community Resilience (2011)
This report discusses the main findings from a study of seventeen community land trusts in Scotland, carried out in May 2011. The research set out to examine the links between community ownership of land and development of its assets, and the resilience of those communities.
The key findings are that: resilience can be built and is not only a characteristic of a few communities; it is multi-scale; and is achieved through deliberate actions or processes as well as through unplanned decisions and events. The report concludes by reviewing the key policy messages put forward by the community land trusts for the new Scottish Government.
