UK Budget 2009 – Key Points for Rural Scotland
In the midst of significant economic challenges brought about by the global financial crisis, Budget 2009 seeks to address the problem of getting credit flowing through the UK economy once more. The UK as a whole was officially deemed to be in recession in January 2009 after its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figures showed two successive quarters of negative growth. The budget continues the Government’s efforts to mitigate the worst of the effects of the crisis while at the same time create an environment for increasing economic activity and stability in the longer-term.
