An Analysis of Marketing Channels for Local Food in Scotland (2011)

Local food has moved up the Scottish policy agenda in recent years, and in 2009 Scotland's National Food and Drink Policy was published. The 2011 SNP election manifesto set out commitments to grow the turnover of the sector and to work to develop a growing local food market.

This Research Briefing reports the key findings of research into the spatial dynamics of local food in Scotland, with a particular focus on the marketing channels used by producers and retailers. The Briefing ends with a series of implications for policy-makers working in this area.
