Rural Law Conference 2011: Sustainable Rural Development (September 2011)
The Rural Law Research Group at the University of Aberdeen organised its second Rural Law Conference at the Kings College Conference Centre, Aberdeen on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd September 2011.
The Conference explored Sustainable Rural Development under three cross-cutting themes: sustainability, diversification and planning. The Conference aims were to:
- Consider the opportunities and challenges facing the delivery of sustainable rural development in Scotland;
- Examine the policy and legal developments affecting the cross-cutting themes (sustainable land use and management; diversification; rural development planning)
- Look to the future of rural land use in Scotland, addressing key issues include: sustainable agriculture, crofting and forestry; renewable energy; and sustainable access.
