Steven is an experienced agricultural economist within the Land Economy and Environment Research Group who has a particular interest in agricultural and rural policy evaluation. He has also been responsible for the development of SAC's Farm Diversification Database and the provision of diversification advice to Scottish businesses, advisers and agencies for the last ten years.
Steven is experienced in conducting collaborative EU research projects including a recent project on Land Markets and the Impact of CAP Support Measures. Other current and recent research includes work on the Structure of the Scottish Livestock Industry (including the mapping of Scottish livestock movements) as part of Professor Jim Scudamore's Foot and Mouth Disease Review for the Scottish Government , the Evaluation of the Farming Connect Cumbria Programme, characterisation of Scottish faming systems as part of the Scottish Government's Sustainable Farming Systems research programme and the Evaluation of the Scottish Rural Development Programme 2000-2006.
