Davy McCracken
Dr Davy McCracken is a Reader in Agricultural Ecology and Team Leader of the Resource Economics and Biodiversity team at SAC. Davy's research focuses on the relationships between European farming systems and wildlife ecology.
Davy joined SAC in 1995 and since then he has managed a variety of projects looking at the relationships between farm management practices, vegetation composition and structure and invertebrates of importance in the diet of farmland birds.
Davy works closely with the European Forum on Nature Conservation and Pastoralism (EFNCP), helping them to plan, organise and publish the outputs from various seminars and conferences held across Europe. Through his links with EFNCP, Davy has been involved in the development of the High Nature Value (HNV) farming systems concept and highlighting the impacts of policy on HNV systems has been the focus of much of his work at European level.
