Jane Atterton
Jane Atterton joined the Rural Policy Centre as a Policy Researcher in June 2010.
Prior to this, Jane worked at the Centre for Rural Economy, Newcastle University (2005-2010). Between 1999 and 2003 Jane worked as a Researcher at the Arkleton Centre for Rural Development Research at Aberdeen University where she also completed her PhD research on the economic and social networks of business owners in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Jane also spent two years working in the Evidence and Analysis branch of the Countryside Agency in Cheltenham.
Jane's research focuses broadly on rural and regional development, with a particular interest in the characteristics of rural economies and businesses, rural policies and policy-making, urban-rural interactions and demographic change in rural areas.
