Scottish Handling Facilities

The following tables describe the designs currently employed in Scottish handling systems and are based on a survey of 116 beef producers (note that the response rate varied for each question).

The results of this survey illustrate that there is considerable scope in Scotland for adopting handling approaches which make use of cattle behaviour to aid calm movement and reduce the risk of injuries to both handlers and cattle.
