VAAWIT – Value-added applications for agriculture using emerging EU Wireless Internet Technology
This project aims to investigate how emerging and next-generation wireless internet technology (WIT) can deliver value-added applications that enhance local and regional agricultural sustainability.
Objectives

The project will determine the content of potential new wireless technology applications in terms of farming and scientific attributes and key data requirements. The project will explore key drivers & challenges that face the potential implementation of wireless technology in terms of organisational, end user and technical issues. It will go onto identify emerging EU solution platforms and examine the current progress of EU IT & C technology, infrastructure & industry towards servicing the application needs. Finally the project will develop recommendations for the implementation of vertical applications for agriculture in the form of: models of operation, deployment plans and target group training.
