Genotype by system interactions for health and welfare related traits in dairy cattle

The project will investigate the time-oriented genetic relationships between health, fertility and production in concentrate-based and grass-based production systems over three lactations.  From this study it will be possible to define characteristics of cows at Crichton Royal Farm that may reflect the environment, and to attempt grouping of farms by 'environment class' using national data

This project aims to investigate the importance of genotype x feed system interactions in dairy cattle, especially between production, feed intake, fertility, health, condition score and energy balance
