Research Note Full Title

Dairy Systems Modelling

Opens in new window

The wide range of dairy farming systems in the South West of Scotland will be simulated on the basis of the input provided by the participating farmers. This project will use mathematical models as decision support systems when planning future production for the participating farms and future research at the dairy centre. Such models will aim to demonstrate input efficiency (nutrients (N, K, P); land; labour; costs) on the participating farms.

Objectives

Opens in new window

To develop, validate and evaluate mathematical models in close co-operation with dairy farmers. As part of the project, liaison with farmers will take place to identify specific areas within dairy farming where such mathematical modelling could be used to help demonstrate improvements in farm efficiency.
