RuBIES Project Team
The RuBIES project initially consisted of 6 partners from Scotland, Sweden, Finland and Iceland.
- Scotland
Scottish Agricultural College (LEAD PARTNER) SAC. www.sac.ac.uk
PICT Innovation Ltd.
- Finland
University of Helsinki, Ruralia Institute. www.helsinki.fi/ruralia/seinajoki
- Iceland
Upplýsingatækni í dreifbýli (UD Project)
- Sweden
Hushållningssällskapet i Norrbotten (HUSH Norbotten). http://www.hush.se/bd/
Hushållningssällskapet i Jamtland (HUSH Jamtland). http://www.hush.se/z/
Unfortunately during the life of the project 2 of the partners withdrew from the project. Firstly, Hushållningssällskapet i Jamtland withdrew from the project because of financial and physical restructuring of the organisation. This was not a major hurdle as the project was in its infancy and their input was relatively minor. Later in the project, after a period of uncertainty PICT Innovation Ltd formally withdrew from the project as a result of the withdrawal of financial support from their parent company which led to the winding up of the company. This was problematic since they were a major intellectual and financial partner in the project, which ultimately impacted on the project timetable and ability to meet all of the project's obligations to the Northern Periphery Programme.
Project Meetings
During the project each of the partners organised and hosted partner meetings which are essential for transnational projects. The meetings provided an ideal opportunity to strengthen personal ties with other researchers and resolve any difficulties partners were experiencing and enabled the researchers to appreciate the local cultures, conditions and problems experienced by businesses in other regions of the Northern Periphery. There were meetings in:
- Inverness, Scotland (forming the partnership in the preparatory project)
- Lulea, Sweden (writing RuBIES project proposal)
- Reykjavik, Iceland (kick off meeting and formal planning)
- Seinäjoki, Finland (progress meeting and primary research planning)
- Edinburgh, Scotland (findings from research - tool design issues – transnational elements)
- Jokkmokk, Sweden (evaluating tools – a transnational testing methodology)
- Oulu, Finland (international seminar – transnational evaluation of tools)
- Siglufjörður, Iceland (final meeting – loose ends – formal project evaluation)
