At the conclusion of the workshop, views of delegates about the key issues associated with the welfare of sheep in extensive systems were sought.

Two methods of obtaining views were used.

Firstly delegates were simply asked to list the three most important actions that could be taken to improve the welfare of extensively managed sheep.

Secondly a short questionnaire was completed to provide a consolidation of the areas of concern identified by delegates following participation in the workshop.

Much of this questionnaire mirrored similar ones provided to farmers at the first series of farmer focus group sessions (which form part of this project) and will in due course provide an opportunity to compare responses between a wider range of stakeholders and farmers.
