Characteristics of successful aquaculture development with an emphasis on salmon - Prof Trond Bjorndal, 24/11/11

During the last 30 years or so, aquaculture has been the world's fastest food production technology.  Nevertheless, aquaculture is an industry with keen competition, where only companies and species with the "right" characteristics succeed.  Also, many question the sustainability of aquaculture.  In the lecture, necessary conditions for a successful aquaculture industry are analysed, and the future potential for the industry is considered.
