I am a recently graduated veterinarian (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine/Technical University of Lisbon – FMV-UTL – July 2009).
During my Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine I was part of a research team in the Department of Epidemiology & Economics and Veterinary Public Health (FMV-UTL) working with Portuguese Bluetongue Surveillance data (September 2008 – January 2009).
I was also enrolled in the Epidemiology Group/Department of Large Animal Sciences (Faculty of Life Sciences/Copenhagen University) working in a ParaTB and Public Health project (February 2009 – May 2009).
Currently I am a SAC and Glasgow University postgraduate student involved in a project related to Pig Movement Data and Social Network Analysis (SNA).
Our main objective will be the characterisation of the British pig industry network by exploring animal movement records and SNA methodologies combined with spatial analysis techniques. The results will be further applied to other fields such as disease modeling.
Research Interests
My research interests reside in a diversity of areas such as Veterinary Epidemiology, Populations Medicine, Risk Analysis and Public Health.
Research Projects
SAC/BPEX - Combined spatial and network analysis of British pig movement data.
