Animal & Veterinary Science

The vision for SAC’s Animal & Veterinary Sciences is to be a research business that is recognised both nationally and internationally for the quality of its science, for its leadership in anticipating stakeholder needs and in being able to translate the products of its research into real benefits for animal health and health, the rural economy and environment.

What we do

Our work is to carry out high quality and relevant research relating to animal genetics and breeding, animal behaviour and welfare, disease systems and avian sciences. This includes work with cattle, sheep, poultry and pigs.

We aim

  • Throughout our work to translate our research into real benefits for our clients and stakeholders.
  • To be a focus in Scotland for collaborative studies where animal and veterinary science is conducted that is relevant to industry or to the natural environment.
