Animal Health
The vision for SAC’s Animal Health Research Group is to be a research business that is recognised both nationally and internationally for the quality of its science, for its leadership in anticipating stakeholder needs and in being able to translate the products of its research into real benefits for animal health, the rural economy and environment.
What we do:
Our work is to carry out high quality and relevant research that considers the equilibrium between the animal and infectious agent across farm animal livestock species. This includes work with cattle, sheep, poultry and pigs with an understanding of the interactions between livestock, wildlife and the environment in agricultural systems. We work to improve the health and welfare of animals and to protect public health from disease.
We aim:
- Throughout our work to translate our research into real benefits for our clients and stakeholders.
- To be a focus in Scotland for collaborative studies where animal health work is conducted that is relevant to industry or to the natural environment.
