Strathfillan Wigwams
Crazy Horse camping breakfast for two (opens in new window)
Strathfillan Wigwams was established in 1996 as the pressures on hill farming, the need to diversify and the need to explore the opportunities between land use, biodiversity and landscape and tourism became apparent.
The site is based at Auchtertyre and comprises some 18 wigwams, three serviced lodges and a reception with a small farm shop. Since 1996 the site has grown organically, driven by strong demand and profitability.
Occupancy is well over 60%, with all year round clientele, with strong return visitors and word of mouth marketing. Turnover this year will be in excess of £250,000 and the site employs over 4 full-time employee equivalents – these figures contrast with the sheep farm.
SAC is a member of Wigwamholiday.com which has over 17 sites across Scotland and the north of England and we are happy to host visits by groups and individuals to see the wigwam business.
