What are Podcasts?
Subscribe to Podcasts
Podcasts are audio files that are automatically downloaded to your computer and can be transferred to your iPod or other MP3 player.
On pages containing audio, look out for the orange icon indicating a podcast link.
What is podcasting?
Podcasting lets you automatically receive the latest episode of a series as soon as it's available. Listen wherever and whenever you like. You can "subscribe" to receive a podcast, rather like you might subscribe to a magazine and get it delivered each week.
Subscribe
You can subscribe to podcasts using free software like iTunes (Windows, Macintosh) or Juice (Windows, Macintosh, Linux).
Content is then automatically downloaded to your computer when new material is available.
Subscribing to a podcast is easy:
- Using iTunes, drag the podcast link into your iTunes podcast library
- Using Juice, first click the podcast link. On the next page, copy the podcast URL from your browser's address bar. Now click Juice's "Add A Feed" icon and paste the podcast URL in the URL field
In addition, you can find podcasts from a huge range of sources listed on the iTunes Store and other directories including PodcastAlley.
