SAC Outlook Meetings - SAC Takes Messages On The Road (Archived Content)

SAC News Release Ref. No: 09N33
Published: 26 Jun 2009

SAC’s Outlook is going on the road, taking its industry analysis and future forecasts direct to farming and rural business audiences. There are to be three October evening events, spread through the country.

SAC’s annual Outlook Conference has long been a regular autumn date in the diary.  The one-day meeting, based on the detailed Outlook Report, was most recently held at Murrayfield Stadium and attracted industry leaders, policy makers and representatives from the agricultural support sector.  Speakers ranged from respected SAC specialists to invited experts, the NFUS President and government ministers.

Now SAC believes it is time for a change. “We are proud of what Outlook has achieved over the years," said a spokesman, “but, as industry pressures grow, fewer people can afford a full day away from work, even if what they hear can help their business plans.  We believe this new format offers something of real value to rural businesses, delivered in a user-friendly way."

The evening events will be held at the Border Union Showground, Kelso on 5th October, Thainstone Centre, Inverurie on 20th October and Stirling Agricultural Centre on 22nd October.

It is still planned to include external speakers on each evening programme; details will be released in advance.  SAC is also aware the three chosen locations will not suit everybody and have plans to move them around the country each year.
