Ask A Busy Man
Dave Roberts (opens in new window)
Dave Roberts, head of SAC’s Dairy Research Centre, is extending his hat rack. This already busy man has taken on two new roles.
At the recent AGM of the British Grassland Society he was elected President, a post he will hold for a year. During that time, his diary will include the 9th Research Conference at Harper Adams College in September, and the announcement of the winners of the annual Grassland Management Competition at the Dairy Event to be held in its new surroundings at the NEC Birmingham.
Meanwhile the LEAF organisation has just confirmed Dave Roberts is to join their Board. LEAF, Linking the Environment and Farming, was set up in 1991 by farmers, consumers and environmentalists keen to engage in a positive debate about farming methods. LEAF demonstration farms now exist around the country and Crichton Farm is one of those.
The LEAF Board helps determine policy and drive the organisation's objectives forward. Speaking at the Royal Show, LEAF Director Caroline Drummond MBE said, “We are delighted with Dave’s appointment. It strengthens our Scottish links. SAC is one of the important innovation centres. There are big challenges ahead and we will need new ideas and technologies to meet the problems."
