Top Barley Grower Recognised
SAC’s Steve Hoad and Julian Bell enjoyed a celebratory dram with James Storrar of George Storrar (Farmers) Ltd at a special event to crown James as Scotland’s most professional malting barley grower.
Crop expert Steve and agricultural economist Julian judged the 2010 Maltsters Association of Great Britain’s Malting Barley Grower Competition along with Eddie Douglas of Bairds Malt Ltd.
A high standard of entries impressed the panel, who selected James after being impressed by his attention to detail, good storage facilities, precise knowledge of production costs and effective marketing strategy.
A presentation lunch was held in James’ honour at Glenturret Distillery, where was presented with a certificate and a cheque for £200.
