Dr. Mizeck Chagunda meets the Princess Royal (opens in new window)
When Dumfries based dairy systems researcher Dr. Mizeck Chagunda met the Princess Royal recently he took the opportunity to outline the research and outreach role SAC is playing in Malawi.
The event, in the Lothian Chambers, Edinburgh, was organised to celebrate what the people of Scotland and Malawi have achieved together since the "Malawi - After Gleneagles" conference in 2005. It highlighted the contribution made by the Scotland Malawi Partnership, which is a new model and not one based on donors and recipients or limited to state-funded aid, but rather is community-based, community-owned and built on mutual trust and respect.
Speakers at the gathering included the Princess Royal herself, HE Flossie Gomile Chidyaonga, Acting Malawi High Commissioner to the UK, Baroness Verma, DFID’s Spokesperson in the House of Lords, and representatives of the Scottish Government.
Mizeck Chagunda’s display and presentation helped explain how SAC is working with local farmers and industry representatives in Malawi, especially the dairy sector.
