The Irish Eye up SAC

SAC Chief Executive Bill McKelvey welcomed a high level delegation from Teagasc, Ireland's agriculture and food development group which supports science based innovation in the agri food sector, with major activity in consultancy and KTE.

The visit was an opportunity to compare two multi-disciplinary businesses, operating against different political and funding environments. Afterwards it was agreed to pursue things further with a view to examining future collaboration.

Amongst the group were Director, Professor Gerry Boyle and members of the senior management team, Dr Tom Kelly (Head of Knowledge Transfer), Dr. Frank O'Mara (Director of Research), Mr Paddy Browne (Head of Education) and Tony Pettit (Education Manager Southern Region).

The Teagasc visitors were especially interested in our ELIR outcomes and the set-up of SAC learning programmes. SAC researchers outlined our areas of activity and general strategies across our funding sources.  A visit was organised to Easter Howgate farm to see the beef research facilities and especially the work on climate change and Green Cow project.
