SAC Help at Hamilton for New Rugby Club Facilities
Hamilton Rugby Club (opens in new window)
SAC Environment and Design Consultant Malcolm Clapperton helped Hamilton Rugby Club refurbish two rugby pitches and establish what have been described as “some of the best facilities in the country”.
The ‘Bulls’ run three competitive Senior Teams and others involving every age group from 5 years upwards. However their facilities at Laigh Bent were needing an upgrade, so after deciding to invest £450,000 the club called in SAC to oversee some major work.
It got underway in July 2009 when the two back pitches were taken out of commission the top soil removed, earth levelled and top soil redistributed before leaving it fallow for the winter. Following the last game of the 2009/10 season the main pitch was treated in the same way. Drainage was installed and all three pitches were re laid, as well as the training areas. With new training lights, improved security and a new, enclosed, floodlit 1stXV pitch they were almost ready to go.
Hamilton Secretary Kevin Rodgerson said “We are delighted with progress, including the refurbished the gym and fitness equipment to provide our senior players with an in house facility for personal fitness programmes. There is further work to do at the end of next season but we look forward to seeing all Hamilton Rugby Club's players making use of the new facilities in the coming year".
