Prof Bill McKelvey, Lord Cameron and Prof Geoff Simm (opens in new window)
Lord Cameron of Dillington, Chairman of the RCUK Global Food Security Programme, recently visited SAC to hear more about our research.
The Research Councils’ new Global Food Security Programme, brings together all the major funders of UK food related research and Lord Cameron leads the Strategy Board. He met SAC Chief Executive and Principal Professor Bill McKelvey and Professor Geoff Simm, SAC Academic Director and Vice Principal Research.
Lord Cameron previously farmed on the Black Isle, where he maintains connections, although his main farming enterprise is now in Somerset. He is a Lawes trustee at Rothamsted, a member of the Lords Agriculture and Environment Committee and also as chair of the All Party Group on Agriculture and Development.
As part of a programme of visits to institutions at the forefront of UK research in the field he was taken to see the new GreenCow facilities at Bush. In addition to the overview given by Professors McKelvey and Simm there were additional presentations from Dr Alan Renwick (Group Manger, Land Economy) Dave Ross and Dr Bob Rees.
