Earth Hour (opens in new window)
“Earth Hour 2011” is due to take place on Saturday 26th March at 8.30pm. You can join in at home by switching off all your lights for 1 hour – but this year SAC will be playing its part by redoubling efforts to ensure that energy consumption across all our sites is reduced as far as practicable. It is time to go beyond the hour!
Earth Hour is a global initiative, led by WWF, which aims to raise awareness of climate change and energy consumption. It encourages people from across the world to switch off their lights for 1 hour. In 2010 hundreds of millions of people took part across 128 different countries.
Have you thought about how you can make changes at home or at work to reduce overall energy consumption. One way you can help is by making sure that all your lights, computers and other equipment is switched off – preferably at the wall – before you go home on Friday.
