The halls of residence at the Craibstone Campus have achieved the SILVER level award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. It recognises SAC’s commitment to good environmental practice in their business activities, ensuring they meet the requirements of environmental law fulfil their ‘duty of care’ over waste disposal.
There are currently 2000 members of the scheme in the UK covering all business types including accommodation providers, self-catering, visitor attractions, corporate offices, retail, restaurants and conference centres. Members aim to ensure they minimise the harmful effects and maximise the beneficial influence that their own business activities have on the environment.
Earlier this year one of the halls of residence achieved Scottish Tourist Board, 3 star status for quality provision. SAC has recently became a member of the ‘Considerate Hoteliers Association’ which is made up of like-minded hoteliers who encourage, assist and motivate each other to adopt sound and sustainable environmentally friendly and socially responsible practices.
