Woodfuel burning (opens in new window)
SAC’s Senior Bioenergy Consultant Neil Harrison is hosting two free events in Turriff and Elgin on 30 January to shed light on woodfuel heating systems and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
Neil’s afternoon event is aimed at farms, estates and other rural businesses. It will take place from 2pm at Seggat, Auchterless, Turriff, where participants will see a working woodfuel system in action and hear how the RHI works. Neil will draw on a number of real life case studies of woodfuel installations and demonstrate the income and fuel bill savings from the RHI that can be achieved with a woodfuel boiler.
From 7.30pm at Laichmoray Hotel, Maisondieu Road, Elgin, Neil will provide an introduction to woodfuel heating systems for homes and grain dryers and again give an overview of the Renewable Heat Incentive.
Neil said: “The RHI and the use of woodfuel have enormous potential benefits for rural businesses and communities. The incentives, covering logs, chips, pellets and agricultural residues, make the installation and running of a wood fuelled system a financially attractive proposition, especially given that a renewable fuel supply is available locally.
“To gain the maximum benefits from woodfuel and the RHI, it is essential to have the right system for your situation. SAC is independent so I will be offering completely impartial advice to help people ensure that any investment they may carry out is the best option for them.”
To book a place at the Turriff event, please phone SAC Thainstone on 01467 625385. To book for the Elgin event, contact SAC Elgin on 01343 548787.
