Woodfuel burning (opens in new window)

As the weather grows colder, SAC Consulting in Oban is to deliver some warming advice about a new government scheme that could pay people for heating their home or business.

SAC’s Senior Bioenergy Consultant Neil Harrison will be hosting a free event in Benderloch on 22 November to shed light on the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and how it has the potential to transform the economics of heating with wood in Scotland.

In a presentation tailored for farms, estates, other rural businesses and communities, Neil will explain how the RHI works. He will draw on some real life case studies of woodfuel installations and demonstrate the income and fuel bill savings from the RHI that can be achieved with a woodfuel boiler.  His presentation will be followed by a visit to the recently installed 140kW wood pellet system at the Isle of Eriska Hotel, courtesy of Mr Bepo Buchanan Smith.

Trevor Polley, Agricultural Consultant at SAC Oban, said: “The RHI and the use of woodfuel have enormous potential benefits for rural businesses and community groups. The incentives, covering logs, chips and pellets, make the installation and running of a wood fuelled system a financially attractive proposition, especially given that a renewable wood supply is available locally.

“To gain the maximum benefits from woodfuel and the RHI, it is essential to have the right system for your situation. SAC is independent so we will be offering completely impartial advice to help people ensure that any investment they may carry out is the best option for them.”

The presentation is free of charge and is to be held in Victory Hall, Benderloch, PA37 1RZ, at 2pm on Tuesday 22 November. For more details contact SAC Oban via the details below.
