Garden design at SAC (opens in new window)

Two characters well known to Scottish gardeners are offering a very special horticultural experience being held at SAC’s Craibstone Campus on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

Carole Baxter and Frieda Morrison, both familiar to fans of BBC Scotland’s “Beechgrove Garden” and the “Potting Shed” radio programme will be working together at a unique evening event. It will combine expert advice on gardening and garden design with live music, wine, shortbread and a plant display.  It will last from 7.00- 8.30 pm on Thursday, 27th May, entry is free.

A well-respected journalist and broadcaster, host Frieda Morrison is a one-off.  She combines a sound knowledge of rural affairs and horticulture with outstanding musical talent as proved by her recording pedigree. Frieda is presently completing a Garden Design Course at SAC in Aberdeen.

It is one of a portfolio of horticultural courses SAC runs at its Aberdeen, Ayr and Edinburgh campuses.  They range from Higher National Certificate level through to BSc degrees awarded by Glasgow University.  Attractive to mature students as well as school leavers they can be studied full-time, part-time or on an individual module basis.  There will be more information on the SAC courses available at the special Craibstone evening.

Carole Baxter will be joined by a panel of other experts on hand to give practical advice and tips or tackle more difficult gardening problems. There will be horticultural demonstrations where garden design will be a special feature, but so too will the music in what promises to be an informative but fun event.

Places are limited so, to book your place, contact Suzy Stockwell.
