Sell More & Waste Less - Advice For Those Starting Food Businesses

Workshop will benefit food businesses (opens in new window)
SAC and the Institute for Grocery Distribution are holding a free, one-day workshop designed to help small food and farming businesses increase their sales and reduce costs.
This event, which is a first for Scotland and is being held at 9.00 am – 3.30 pm, Wednesday 17th March, 2010, Huntingtower Hotel, Perth, follows a previous series piloted last year in England. It is strictly focussed on the kind of practical advice needed by those starting out in the food sector.
The event is a result of the growing relationship between the SAC Food Marketing Team and IGD. It is aimed at those owning businesses with a turnover less than £10 million a year and employing fewer than 50 people. Most of Scotland’s innovative food businesses fall into that category. Those attending the workshop will also have the opportunity for further advice and guidance over a two-month period.
Among the topics covered during the day will be increasing value and reducing waste, guides on best practice and examples of proven value to farming and food firms. There will be papers from marketing experts and those with a deep understanding of supply chains and how to translate consumer value into customer needs.
