SAC Reaches The Pinnacle – Double Success In Business Award Competition

Two SAC students were among the eight finalists at this year’s Pinnacle Business Awards, presented at the Farmer’s Club, Whitehall Place, London. To get to the final both students beat entries from most of the UK’s land-based colleges and universities.

Established in 1988, the prestigious annual awards encourage the management training of students preparing for work in the rural and land-based industries.

Sponsored by The Farmers Club, ADAS and the Cave Foundation, with assistance from the Guild of Agricultural Journalists, the competition is open to full-time students recommended by their college or university as having undertaken a project of high standard.

Both SAC 3rd year BSc Agriculture students entered projects focussed on farm diversification. Aberdeen Campus representative Peter Moss (first left) from Orkney achieved a Special Award and £150 for his innovative, team business plan to supply small-scale wind and hydro technology to Scotland’s farmers.

Stewart McCallum (second left), studying at SAC's Ayr Campus, received his Special Award and cheque for his very profitable proposal to start a wigwam log cabin tourist venture at Callander in Perthshire.
