New Web Site Launch
SAC launches its new Corporate Social Responsibility web site this week. CSR is all about improving the way of life without requiring future generations to make compromises.
“It is our ambition to fully meet the environmental and economic challenges that face rural communities in the 21st century, bringing benefits to staff and stakeholders alike,” said Professor Bill McKelvey, SAC Chief Executive and Principal.
At the heart of SAC’s contribution to Corporate Social Responsibility lies the commitment to environmental management, communities and businesses.
SAC environmental achievements include progress on energy savings of nearly 7.0%, and identifying ways of managing energy and water more efficiently.
Our involvement with the community covers many sectors of Scottish rural life as our work with the new registered charity Care Farming Scotland illustrates. There is a similar commitment to activity overseas with, for example, the contribution to programmes helping African women reach their potential in the academic and business worlds.
In business, SAC is leading efforts in research supporting the rural economy and environment. 2009 featured the opening of the £1m Beef Research Centre at Easter Howgate. Our student recruitment programmes continue to grow, with over 1,000 enrolled across our centres.
