CM Course Information
My name is John Moisey and I have been a student here at SAC for six years in total. I originally studied agriculture - started here in 2001 studying agriculture. During agriculture, I learnt quite a lot about environmental management and things, conservation - that convinced me to come back and study Conservation Management which is entitled here Countryside Management. I have studied that now for four years and I have just finished my final exams, so I am a bit happy and looking for a job.
SAC, why did I choose it? - I chose it because it is the leading educational establishment for land-based industries. Everyone I know that worked in agriculture and related industries has either studied here or knows someone that studied here or is related to someone who studied here, so it’s a good name and it’s a good place to have a qualification from - it is well respected, I think.
Some of the best things about my Course - the trips - you get Study Tours and they have been fantastic and you learn a lot on them. You get to do a bit of practical conservation stuff which is really good, very beneficial because, myself, I haven’t got a lot of experience with practical conservation so it has been very useful having that.
Some of the worst parts about my Course - well, there’s none, it’s been very good. Four years I have enjoyed it, I can’t really think of anything bad about it. Job prospect-wise, I think my Course has set me up for a job quite well. I have had to study things like Business Management and actually just like personal skills development stuff as well is really good here, so job prospect-wise I should be okay. I am actually currently working within the College as well for eight weeks in the Agronomy Division because they do quite a lot of research and field trials, so I have got the chance to work there for eight weeks and gain some more experience before I get out into the big wide world.
If you are thinking about coming here, it is definitely worth it because it is a fantastic place to come, it is a beautiful location here at Craibstone and only four miles out of Aberdeen, so Aberdeen night life if you are up for a good drink, but, yes, if you think that you want to come here, come to one of the Open Days, have a look around, it’s great, the staff are great, the students are great, the accommodation is great, it’s fantastic, so hope you apply.
