Course Programme

The course objective is to improve the knowledge of dairy farmers on practical aspects of mastitis control and improving milk hygienic quality.

The course would cover the following areas:

  • the causes of mastitis
  • cost effective mastitis monitoring programs (know your enemy!)
  • milking parlour routine and the effect on mastitis
  • environmental management and the effect on mastitis
  • managing clinical mastitis cases
  • approaching raised somatic cell count problems

Approximate cost: £120 (with 75% LMO grant = £30)
