Course Programme

The course objective is to provide guidance on background nutrition and practical feeding of beef cattle and sheep.

This course is run over a single day and covers the following topics:

  • ruminant digestion of feed components
  • energy requirements
  • protein requirements
  • composition of common feeds
  • interpreting silage reports
  • feeding suckler cows
  • feeding beef cattle
  • feeding pregnant ewes

The course includes lectures, discussion and practical sessions. The aim is to provide the participants with a nutritional background to the practical feeding of cattle and sheep.  Comprehensive notes are provided.

Approx. cost: £120 (with 75% LMO grant =£30)
