Introduction To Computers On The Farm - Elementary Level

Course Programme

An elementary level introduction to the functions and benefits of Information Technology for those with little or no experience of computers. The course is designed to give participants a grasp of the basic components of computer hardware and standard applications.

The course also aims to assist individuals not already using IT systems to understand computer terminology and specifications, to enable them to identify computer specifications and software which would meet their own  requirements within the farm business. The session is delivered through simple practical exercises to provide trainees confidence to use a computer, including emails and the internet, as well as discussing various agricultural record keeping software.

Qualifications Obtained

By the end of the course trainees will be able to understand the relevance of using a computer in the farm business and recognise the advantages that computerised farm accounts and record keeping can provide.

This course leads into SAC’s next level of computing course:  Introduction to word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
