Student Profile: David Wylie (Agriculture)
He chose to study at SAC because our course provided the right balance of academic and practical elements for his future career aspirations. These lay in the advisory/consultancy sector, either in livestock genetics or agri-business entrepreneurship and diversification.
About My Course
“I enjoy livestock subjects, particularly livestock breeding. There are many new developments in this field and much of the research is being conducted by SAC. This means our studies are right up to date!
The ‘looking beyond the farm gate’ aspects of modules such as AgriFood Business and Marketing are good as I want to learn how the whole food and farming sector operates rather than just focussing on production agriculture.
We also have excellent visits to relevant businesses in this sector. The proposed overseas study tour to Eastern Europe sounds good and will provide the chance to see alternative agricultural systems.
I’m looking forward to undertaking my honours dissertation which is an opportunity to concentrate on a specific area of personal study."
