Entry Requirements for SAC

Information for students from Ireland

SAC is able to offer entry to our Degree programmes to students who enrol directly from school.

In general, for a place on a degree programme SAC requires:

3 Leaving Certificate passes (BCC)

This is equivalent to grades required by students who study Scottish Highers or 2 ‘A’ levels (CC).

Requirements do vary across courses and specific information can be found on our course information pages.

If your Leaving Certificate grades are lower than those stated for a Degree programme you may be eligible for entry to a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) course.

Those who complete a Higher Certificate course at an Irish college who wish to come to the UK to gain a degree are encouraged to apply and may be eligible for advanced entry to a degree programme.

SAC also has a policy of encouraging applications from mature students as part of our commitment to promoting Wider Access to Higher Education.

In accepting applicants from this group we are looking for evidence that the applicant will have a realistic chance of benefiting from completion of the course.

As the courses have academic requirements we also make offers based on the academic potential of applicants and their overall suitability for the course.

Mature applicants are required to evidence adequate numeracy and literacy skills.
