Increase in Applications to SAC
SAC has experienced an increase in applications to its courses this year.
By the January deadline for applications via UCAS (Universities and Colleges Applications Service) the total number of those applying for the courses offered by SAC was up by 21% on the year before. This included a 43% rise in the numbers interested in studying agricultural subjects, with interest in environment courses 39% up and leisure course applications higher by 36%.
The continued rising trend in applications has pleased SAC Chief Executive and Principal Professor Bill McKelvey: "In recent years there has been a marked increase in the numbers of young people who see a future in farming and rural management."
