New Ayr Campus

Preparations continue at SAC's Ayr campus for their move to a brand new site this summer.
The new Riverside Campus, located in central Ayr, will offer a state-of-the art new building and facilities, in a peaceful riverside setting. The campus is shared with the University of the West of Scotland. Up-to-date pictures of the site can be found here:

Taster Days
SAC's three campuses are holding Taster Days this month, so if you would like to spend a day being a student at SAC, you may still be in time to book your place.
Increase in Applications to SAC
SAC has experienced an increase in applications to its courses this year.
SAC Outreach to Local Communities
Catstrand is a unique arts and community centre in Dumfries and Galloway providing a diverse programme of activities for local people. Recently they invited SAC to deliver some basic horticulture courses to some keen amateur gardeners in New Galloway.
“Calves eat cornflakes too!”, SAC Tells Stirling Pupils
Primary school pupils taking part in a recent Food & Farming Day at Stirling's Caledonian Marts area were amazed to learn from SAC Consulting that calves enjoy tucking into cornflakes too!
Farm Visit Reports: Agriculture and Applied Animal Science students
As part of the Livestock Management Systems and Livestock Enterprise Management modules, SAC students visit a number of farms across the livestock sector, incorporating beef, sheep and dairy. On the visits the students see various managements systems and gain an insight as to why the farmer has chosen that particular system for his/her farm.
Distance Learning HNC in Rural Business Management
The first distance learning study weekend for HNC Rural Business Management students was held at SAC Aberdeen last September.
Progression Routes and Relationship Building
Iris Law, who is the lecturer for a new course 'Social and Environmental Science' being delivered at Kilmarnock College arranged a visit to our SAC Ayr Campus recently for herself and a colleague.
SAC Ayr Celebrate 500th Successful SCPLH Candidate
Jennifer Stillie, an SAC Ayr 1st Year Sports and Recreation Degree student was the 500th SAC Ayr candidate to gain the Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders [SCPLH].
International Perspective
SAC staff don't just provide teaching to our own students but often enjoy sharing knowledge with people from the wider community. In mid February twenty-two members of Mauchline Horticultural Society had the pleasure of hearing a talk given by Peter MacDonald (SAC Horticulture Lecturer) about the breeding of annual flowering and bedding plants.
Grafting Secrets Shared
Grafting is a method of plant propagation that many people find a little mysterious and is a skill not everyone in horticulture has.
Panto Success
To the unsophisticated it might seem impossible to make a connection between Baghdad and Sherwood Forest, but hey, if Shakespeare can "bring Birnham Wood to Dunsinane", no task is too challenging for the Craibstone Panto Team.
Former Student Profile
Gregor Mackintosh a former student from the Scottish Agricultural College, Aberdeen, graduated in 2008 with a BSc Honours in Agriculture. It was during his final year of study at SAC that Gregor explored the option of diversifying his home farm at Mains of Buthlaw, Glendaveny near Peterhead to add value to their already existing farm business.
