RHET on Campus

To further develop its working relationship with the Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) and the Royal Northern Countryside Initiative (RNCI), the Trust's Countryside Initiative Project Officers have been visiting each campus this Autumn to talk about the work it does with schools and the wider public.

Opportunities for SAC students to volunteer for RHET activities were highlighted and these include working with schools on projects such at Farmhouse Breakfast week and Potato Count and Grow, working at RHET stands at agricutural shows and escorting school visits to farms. These activities will provide useful work experience for the students as well as providing them with an opportunity to impart their knowledge and skills to the younger generation!

Other work currently in discussion with RHET includes development of learning materials, staff assisting with farm and classroom visits, and teacher sessions, and RHET presenting their work and experiences to agricultural students.

The work RHET does with schools is critical in bringing on the next generation of students' awareness and interest in the agricultural and environment agenda and SAC is pleased it is able to work in partnership with the organisation.
