Sustainability
Sustainable development is often defined as that which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Biodiversity
Many of the species and habitats on which we place such high conservation value in Scotland are intimately associated with, and dependent upon, the continuation of farming practices.
Water
The way in which farmers use their land can increase water quality by reducing diffuse pollution, managing floods, and ensuring that our rivers and lochs are healthy habitats for wildlife.
Quality Products
Farming in Scotland produces traceable, high quality food products in farming systems where animal health and care for the environment is of primary importance.
Landscape Types
Farmers and their farming practices over the past centuries are responsible for the creation of the wide range of lowland and upland landscapes that we see and value in Scotland today.
