Practical Horticulture Certificate

SAC Ayr

First year students at Ayr Campus have the opportunity to work with the gardens staff on a regular basis throughout the session to develop their practical skills.

The students participate in the range of tasks needed to maintain the gardens.

SAC gardens provide a wide range of shrubs and trees, planted areas of trees, shrubs and herbaceous and design features that are used for student practical classes and assignments.

The students gain an understanding of the annual running of the garden and learn skills from working with experienced gardens staff.

Although not a formal part of the course, students gain a certificate of practical experience which will show prospective employers that they have more than the minimum practical experience.
