John Muir Trust Awards

Students take a field trip to Knoydart

In June 2009 Environmental and Countryside Management students from our Aberdeen and Edinburgh campuses visited Knoydart for 4 days, and in the process undertook the John Muir Trust Discovery Award.

This Award focuses around the themes of ‘discover’, ‘explore’, ‘conserve’ and ‘share’, and the students took part in a variety of activities, including working with the local community, recording their impressions of Knoydart, and conservation work in controlling rhododendron.

All students and staff that took part thoroughly enjoyed the trip, and it is planned to offer this trip to students every year, In addition, we aim to allow students who have undertaken the Discovery level Award to go further and tackle the Explorer and Conserver Awards. For more information about the Awards, and the John Muir Trust itself, see the awards website.
