Single modules available for part-time and short course study

Modules covering the chemistry and biology of plants and animals, including genetics and laboratory work, are available.
  • Plant Growth & Development: Growth, reproduction and breeding of plants. Essential plant anatomy.
  • Genetics: Genetics is growing rapidly and now affects all biology including human life.
  • Biotechnology for Food, Land & the Environment: The nature of biotechnology, its regulation and its impact on society and industry.
  • Cell & Tissue Culture: The manipulation of the growth and development of plant and animal cells, tissues and organs. Theoretical applications, and ‘hands-on’ sessions.
  • Quality Assurance in the Laboratory: Essentials of Good Laboratory Practice that assures quality in lab studies and data production.
  • Livestock Nutrition: The science of efficient livestock feeding systems considering a wide range of feeds. Computer based rationing skills.
  • Cells and Fundamentals of life: This module improves understanding of what features characterise living organisms.
