Single modules available for part-time and short course study
A range of modules are available which introduce the key skills and knowledge in agriculture: livestock, agricultural use, identification, crops, materials and equipment.
- Grass and Fodder Crop Production: Agricultural use and identification of grass and fodder species. Yield, quality and persistence.
- Livestock Health & Welfare: Knowledge and understanding of drug and vaccine development and their use in livestock production.
- Livestock Breeding & Health: The physiological mechanisms and principles underlying the reproduction, genetic improvement and health status of farm livestock.
- Systems of Livestock Production: Factors affecting demand and consumption of livestock products, the different production systems found in the UK and their components.
- Livestock Husbandry & Recording: Developing key skills, competence and safe working practices in livestock husbandry, equipment use and record keeping.
- Arable Crop Production: Planning the production and management of arable crops.
- Mechanisation 1: Develop an understanding the use of materials, energy, vehicles and power in land based industries.
- Crop Establishment and Mechanisation: Describing and planning the use of all the equipment required for the establishment of specified crops.
- Plant Protection: An Introduction: Recognizing and identifying plant protection (pest, disease and weed) problems and selecting appropriate control measures.
