Term Dates
2011-12
Term dates for the academic year 2011-12 are as follows:
Undergraduate students:
Registration/Matriculation Days for new students:
- Aberdeen Campus: All students will register on the first day of term – Tuesday 27th September, Monday 26th being a local Aberdeen holiday.
- Ayr Campus: All students will register on Friday 23rd September, ready to start classes on Monday 26th September
- Edinburgh Campus – 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years: Registration for second, third and fourth year students will take place on Monday 26th September.
- Edinburgh Campus – 1st years: Registration for first year students will take place on Monday 12th September. In addition, there is a ‘freshers’ week’ for first year students at the Edinburgh campus the week prior to the start of term (week beginning Monday 12th September 2011), followed by a first year field trip (20-23 September 2011). Monday 19 September is a local Edinburgh holiday and the College will be closed.
First and Second Year students:
- Term 1: Monday 26 September – Friday 2 December 2011 (10 weeks)
- Except Aberdeen campus, which begins on Tuesday 27 September due to a local holiday on 26th
- Christmas holiday: 3 December 2011 – 8 January 2012 (5 weeks)
- Term 2: Monday 9 January – Friday 16 March 2012 (10 weeks)
- Easter holiday: 17 March – 8 April 2012 (3 weeks
- Term 3: Monday 9 April – Friday 15 June 2012 (10 weeks)
Third and Fourth Year students:
- Semester 1: Monday 26 September 2011 – Friday 27 January 2012 (11 weeks)
- Except Aberdeen campus, which begins on Tuesday 27 September due to a local holiday on 26th
- Including Christmas holiday: 3 December 2011 – 8 January 2012 (5 weeks) and Exam Fortnight: 16 January – 27 January 2012
- Semester 2: Monday 30 January – Friday 18 May 2012 (11 weeks)
- Including Easter holiday: 17 March – 8 April 2012 (3 weeks) and Exam Fortnight: 7 May – 18 May 2012
- Exam boards take place in June. Academic year ends 15 June 2012
Postgraduate students:
SAC’s postgraduate courses are studied by distance learning – you will be sent details of the arrangements. The courses do include three study weekends per year, which you will be expected to attend as part of the course. The dates are provisionally as follows (2011-2012). Please confirm them with your course tutor prior to making any travel arrangements:
- Applied Poultry Science (Ayr Campus): Weekend 1: 9-12 September 2011, further study weekends to be confirmed.
- Countryside Management (Aberdeen/Ayr Campus): Dates to be confirmed.
- Organic Farming (Aberdeen Campus): Weekend 1: 15-19 September 2011, Weekend 2: 3-6 February 2012, Weekend 3: 20-23 April 2012
Postgraduate MSc programmes continue through the summer. Arrangements differ depending on your postgraduate course. Further details are available from your course tutor.
